Environmental Garden

The Fairfield Community Primary School is working hard to protect the environment and provide places for the local wildlife to thrive - and provide our pupils with a chance to see some of it.

Our garden has a wildlife pond, vegetable beds, wild areas and an electricity producing windmill in it. The wind turbine produces about 3 kilowatts of power on a moderately breezy day. This electricity is used at the school and a little less power taken from the national grid. This small contribution benefits the environment as this power is truly sustainable.

This garden has been improved recently with grants from the Duckworth trust and The National Lottery Big Lottery Fund.

It provides an alternative 'classroom' space or an outdoor venue for other whole school activities.
