Year 3

Year 3 are taught by Miss Jones and supported by Mrs Beck and Mrs Smith.

We strive to put learning into a familiar context for the children which makes it relevant to their everyday lives. During our studies we will strive to think deeply and become effective independent learners, using off site trips and inviting visitors into school.

Speaking and listening is what we focus most of our learning around. We enjoy learning, story mapping and performing stories in our Talk for Writing sessions, which will then assist us with our writing. Also, we are using Inspire Maths, which allows us to use a range of resources to support our mathematical thinking. All of our learning linked throughout our theme, which changes each term. We even have a ‘Discovery Area’ in the corner of our classroom where we love to learn and explore.

At the end of the day, we look forward to DEAR time. That means we have to ‘drop everything and read.’ We love hearing a range of different stories read enthusiastically by Miss Jones and Mrs Beck. Reading is extremely important so make sure you are changing your reading books frequently and reading daily at home.

We have been given the opportunity to go swimming and have dance and gymnastic sessions this year and we are so excited about this.

We look forward to sharing some of our learning with you, so keep checking our page to see what exciting things we get up to.
